How to Relieve Stress

When it comes to the high stakes business world, there are a number of factors that come into play that can affect your performance. You’ll want to be well rested, of course, to be as productive as possible, but here’s something that has a major affect on productivity and yet is completely ignored in most cases. I’m speaking, of course, of mental illness. Much like your body needs to be well rested to do your best work, so does you mind. Therefore, you’ll want to take the proper steps to maintain morale so that you can bring your A game to work and keep your income steady. Here are a few suggestions to help you maintain morale.

First and foremost, consider treating yourself once in awhile. For example, one way to unwind could be to go out with friends on the weekend. You could get dressed to the nines with your new outfit from Charlotte Russe and go out to dinner with the gang. Or you could see that new Marvel movie you’ve been waiting for. Or, for that matter, why not both? Another way to unwind is to simply get out of the house. You could, instead of hanging out with friends, simply for a walk or a hike. This small dose of exercise and the change in scenery will do wonders for your mood. Or, you could kick it up a notch and have the adventure of a lifetime. You could go rock climbing, for example, or you could go rafting or kayaking. The sky is literally the limit when it comes outdoor activities. Just remember to stay safe.

On the flip side, there’s rest and relaxation, or R & R. One way, perhaps the best way, to relax is to take a nice, long, hot bath first thing after work. This will help you “wash away” the day, in a sense, and rejuvenate your body and mind. The hot water will help to relax your tense, stress addled muscles, and the quiet solitude can help you clear your mind. Or, you could simply take a nap, but you’ll want to be somewhat cautious with the timing of your nap. Interrupting REM sleep can leave you even more tired and disoriented, so be sure to avoid this by taking a nap of half an hour or less and around the 1 hour and 45 minute mark.
